An FIR was registered against the Ahmadi community member.
An FIR was registered against a member of the Ahmadi community in Toba Tek for sacrificing a goat on Eidul Azha.
The member of the Ahmadi community was retained in Gojra, Toba Tek Singh district, Punjab, at the complaint of an activist of Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) alleged for sacrificing a goat on Eidul Azha.
The First Information Report (FIR) was registered under Section 298-C of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
Section 298-C of the PPC explains the penalty for a person of the Ahmadi group who calls himself a Muslim and preaches and propagates his faith. In the FIR, the complainant stated that he was informed that a person of Ahmadi faith was sacrificing a goat at a village in Gojra.
As per the FIR, the complainant found that the person who belongs to the Ahmadi community was indeed sacrificing the animal at his home.
As per sources, the Ahmadi community was warned by the complainant, but he stood firm and called himself a Muslim.
Based on the FIR, the suspect has hurt the sentiments of Muslims by sacrificing an animal and claiming to be a Muslim.
Two members of the Ahmadiyya community were shot dead by unknown persons in Punjab’s Mandi Bahauddin earlier this month.
The FIRs were similar to the five registered across Punjab last year against the Ahmadi community for sacrificing animals.
