Alvi opposes the departure of eligible persons within the democratic process.

Islamabad: Pakistani President Dr Arif Alvi expressing despair on Monday over the eviction of “qualified individuals” from electoral politics, stressing the importance of honoring prevalent legitimacy & assuring democratic openness, under a covert allusion to previous prime minister Imran Khan, who is presently behind imprisonment.

Alvi had been a prominent leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, or PTI movement until Imran nominated himself President in 2018. Khan, who is who has been in imprisonment having having been found guilty of fraud, is prohibited for running over office as a politician another 10 years.
