A petition filed on the speech of the PM few justices as “black sheeps”
A petition was filed against Pakistan’s PM Shehbaz Sharif for calling the country’s judiciary ‘black sheep’.
Complainant Ashba Kamran complained to the Lahore High Court, claiming the prime minister of Pakistan addressed the justices as “black sheep”.
Although, the complaint was brought forward in court requesting proceedings for contempt on Prime Minister Pakistan because of his inflammatory statements, that referred to sitting judges in the nation’s the judiciary as a “black sheep.”

Reportedly, Shahbaz addressed the general council meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to re-elect Nawaz Sharif as party president. Shehbaz alleged that some black sheep serving the judiciary system have decided to give unjustified relief to founder-leader Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan.
Ashba Kamran Petitioner filed a petition against the Prime Minister of Pakistan in the Lahore High Court. Accordingly, contending that he referred to serving judges as “black sheep” during his speech in his party meeting.
The Prime Minister’s statement undermines the integrity and independence of the judiciary. His statement amounts to attacking the institution of the judiciary; therefore, action should be taken against him under the contempt of court law,” she pleaded.
The 71-year-old cricketer-turned-politician has been jailed since August 2023, and he is facing 200 fake cases.
Shehbaz had also attacked Imran Khan for his criticism of the Pakistan Army. If he continues to denigrate the Pakistani Army and their families, the entire nation will not forgive him.
Albeit, there is tug-of-war situation between the authoritative military and the judiciary after a letter from six judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to the Chief Justice of Pakistan took up the matter of spy agencies meddling in judicial matters to get desired verdicts in different cases, especially relating to Imran Khan.
