A helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi made a “hard landing” during the visit to the country’s northwest.
The helicopter crashed near to a copper mine called Sungun. That is located between Jolfa and Varzaqan in the East Azerbaijan province of Iran, and roughly 70 km (43 miles) and to 100 km (62 miles) away from the cities of Tabriz. Tabriz is the largest city in Iran and also the city that the president of Iran and foreign minister were headed toward. Following the incident, 40 rescue teams were dispatched to the forested and mountainous area.
